What tools does the Team at Seedash Computing use for development?

Please select a technology or tool from the list below.

Professional Approach to Design

[Top]

At Seedash Computing we believe it is the way a programming language is used that is most important. We know that solutions developed using an immature approach to design and development are difficult to enhance and maintain. For this reason we apply University standards to design and develop the solution for your business. See our Documentation section.

Visual Basic / Visual Basic .NET

[Top]

This programming language is useful for creating custom software from the ground up, and is often used in conjunction with a database such as SQL Server or Access. Many small businesses use it to develop in-house projects, usually for administrative purposes. An example of its ideal use in Small to Medium Enterprise is automatic email processing or as a bridge between two other systems.

ASP / ASP.NET (Active Server Pages)

[Top]

ASP and ASP.NET are used to produce web pages that are interactive and save or display stored information. Examples are web customer surveys or online catalogues. This website was developed in ASP.NET.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)

[Top]

HTML is used to design the layout of web pages. It is a necessary skill for seamlessly integrating new pages with your existing website. Seedash excels in creating and enhancing websites with mini-applications that enable business-to-customer or business-to-business interaction. If you already have a website and would like to enhance it, we are happy to work with your existing HTML programmer. Alternatively, we can create a simple yet appealing website in HTML alone, or combine HTML with our more advanced skills.

Crystal Reports

[Top]

In this context, a Report is basically a template that extracts your data, arranges it and presents it well (for printing or other purposes). Using Crystal Reports, we are able to create Reports that combine information from several systems.

Examples of everyday Reports are your telephone bill (including graphs etc) and your electricity bill. Examples of Reports found within other applications are Profit & Loss Statements, Stock Lists and Phone Usage Statements.

Microsoft Access

[Top]

Access provides a user-friendly data maintenance environment for relatively small databases. We can create applications within Access that automate the processing of your data, such as importing it from another program / database (eg. QuickBooks), or providing a straightforward user interface for data entry. Access can also use your data to generate reports, and may be integrated with Crystal Reports. When necessary, we can create custom software modules and integrate these with Access.

Microsoft SQL Server

[Top]

Best suited to medium-size business, SQL Server resides on a network server and can be used by hundreds of people simultaneously. It is often used as a data store for web sites or large quantities of information. We can enhance SQL Server via stored procedures, views, functions etc. and can also interface to it through Crystal Reports, Access, ASP, Excel and Visual Basic.

Microsoft Office

[Top]

Many Office applications contain a programming language called VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). Using Visual Basic skills, we can customise your Office applications to make the software work for you, rather than adhering to its limitations. For example, how would you like a toolbar in Word that allows you to easily paste contact details directly from Outlook?

Microsoft Excel

[Top]

Excel is great for storing relatively small amounts of data in a straightforward way. However, it can become difficult to summarise data, especially if it needs to be cross-referenced with other sheets of data. Using our Visual Basic expertise, we can summarise your data and create advanced formulae that enable you to arrange information in a more useful fashion, as well as highlight certain types of information for your attention.

Microsoft Word

[Top]

Word can be integrated with other software in ways you may not expect. We can create software that gathers information and produces a Word document as output. Alternatively, you can even have a system that integrates with Word to produce fancy documents that store information for future use.

Microsoft Outlook

[Top]

Outlook is quite an under-utilised tool in the Small to Medium Enterprise arena. It can be used to share appointments, contact details and tasks, and has almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to customising email forms and interfacing with other products.

Do you have staff who would shy away from filling in a Word document, but would tick a box in an email? We can create a system that delivers such an email, then extracts the information and deals with it appropriately. The time has come for "event driven" businesses. The completion of one task should trigger the beginning of another - no waiting for staff to walk across the room or to remember to notify other team members. Outlook can facilitate this process and improve efficiency.

MySQL

[Top]

MySQL is a relatively inexpensive server-based database environment, most commonly used with webpages. It can reside on a Linux or Windows based server. Customers sometimes opt to use this technology rather than the more expensive SQL Server.

Maximizer

[Top]

This popular Customer Relationship Management (CRM) package can be automated using some add-on software. Data can also be extracted directly from the underlying database and inserted into your software package of choice.

Quicken / QuickBooks

[Top]

This common financial package sometimes doesn't deliver all of your reporting needs, and some customers would like to extract information from it to display in other systems. If you want to enhance your use of this product, we are the company to do it.

Just because something isn't listed here does not mean that we can't work with it. We have completed projects in C++, PHP and other languages in the past. If you have a specific technology in mind, contact us and we'll get back to you.

Give us a call on 1800 191 537 or send us an email and we'll see how we can help you, to do what you do, better.
